New ternary Cu(II)-chelates with the general formula [ML L(H2O)(x)] (NO3)(y) x (H2O), x=0-2 and y=0-1, (L)=5-acetyl-4-hydroxy-2H-1,3-thiazine-2,6(3H)-dione with in the presence of a secondary ligand (L) [N,O-donor; 8 hydroxyquinoline or N,N-donor; 1,10-phenanthroline and diethethylendiamine]. Characterization of the synthesized complexes was established based on elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, spectral (infrared, electronic, mass, H-1-NMR and ESR) as well as thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The complexes exhibited octahedral and square planer geometry. The antimicrobial activity for the studied complexes was tested for different kind of organisms. The geometrical and non-linear optical parameters of the studied complexes 1-3 are investigated theoretically at the B3LYP/GENECP level of theory. The optimized geometries of the studied complexes are non-planner as indicated from the dihedral angles. The natural charge population (core, valence and Rydberg), exact electronic configuration, total Lewis, and total non-Lewis is computed and discussed in terms of natural bond orbitals (NBO) analysis. The calculated E-HOMO and E-LUMO energies at the same level of theory of the studied complexes were used to calculate the global properties; hardness (), global softness (S), electrophilicity () and electronegativity (). The total dipole moment ((tot)), total and anisotropy of polarizability (??), () and first hyperpolarizability (??) values were calculated and compared with urea as a reference compound. Novel arylpiperazine-1,2-benzothiazine derivatives have been designed and synthesized as potential antiinflammatory agents. Their structure and properties have been studied using spectroscopic techniques (H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, FT-IR), MS, elemental analyses, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD, for compound 7b). This study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory activity of new derivatives against both cyclooxygenase isoforms COX-1 and COX-2 due to the similarity of new compounds to oxicams drugs from the NSAIDs group. All new compounds were divided into two series – A and B – with a different linker between thiazine and piperazines nitrogens. Series A included the three-carbon aliphatic linker and series B – two-carbon with a carbonyl group. According to in vitro and molecular docking studies all new compounds exhibited cyclooxygenase inhibitory activity. The series of A compounds included COX-1 inhibitors only. In contrast, the B series showed inhibition of both COX-1 and COX-2, which suggested the importance of the acetoxy linker for COX-2 inhibition. Moreover, the most selective compound 7b, towards COX-2, was non-toxic for the normal human cell line (in concentration of 10 mu M) comparable to reference drug meloxicam. Additionally, investigation of influence on model membranes confirmed the ability of the compound 7b to penetrate lipid bilayers which seemed to be important to the influence with membrane protein-cyclooxygenase.

Experimental and Quantum Chemical Analysis of New Pyrimidothiazine Derivative as Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in 1.0 M Hydrochloric Acid Solution

The corrosion inhibition efficiency of pyrimidothiazine compound, namely: 8-ethyl-3-hydroxy-4,6-dioxo-2-(p-tolyl)-4,6-dihydropyrimido [2,1-b][1,3] thiazine-7carbonitrile (EHDPTC), was evaluated in the system steel/1 M HCl. This compound is investigated experimentally using weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that the inhibition mechanism involves blockage of the steel surface by the inhibitor molecules by a Langmuir-type adsorption process and that the structure of molecule plays an important role in the inhibition efficiency of the synthesized inhibitor. The thermodynamic parameters of activation and adsorption have been calculated and discussed in detail. Furthermore, the quantum chemical parameters have been calculated and discussed in view of the results earlier reported.

2-Ferrocenyl-4H-benzo[e][1,3]thiazine and its 6,7-dimethoxy derivative were prepared by a Bischler-Napieralski-type annulation of the Mannich adducts of ferrocenecarboxamide, formaldehyde, and the corresponding thiophenol. A more efficient synthetic pathway, comprising a directed lithiation/iodination sequence followed by standard functional-group transformations and a final copper-catalyzed cyclization, was elaborated to convert [(dimethylamino)methyl]ferrocene into racemic mixtures of the first representatives of planar-chiral 4H-ferroceno[e][1,3]thiazines. A similar strategy with 2-iodobenzyl bromide as the precursor enabled a highly improved synthesis of 2-ferrocenyl-4H-benzo[e][1,3]thiazine. The relative tendency of the new ferrocene-based thiazines, composed of potential redox sites assembled in different molecular architectures, to behave as donors in single-electron transfer (SET) reactions was studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and DFT calculations. The results disclosed that 2-ferrocenyl-4H-ferroceno[e][1,3]thiazine can undergo two consecutive redox steps and is the most efficient reductant among the prepared models; it has the lowest first half-cell potential, the highest-energy highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) concentrated on the fused metallocene unit and the lowest first ionization energy.

The Metabolism of Methylene Blue and Its Derivatives in Japanese Eel (Anguilla Japonica)

Methylene blue (MB) is commonly used in aquaculture as a fungicide and antidotes. This study was designed to explore the pharmacokinetics of MB in Japanese eel (Anguilla Japonica) immersed in 10 mg L-1 and 20 mg L-1 MB for 0.5 h. The concentrations of MB and its derivatives in the blood, liver, kidney, skin and muscle were determined by HPLC after immersion. The results showed that the changes of drug concentrations in Japanese eel were basically the same in different dose groups, showing a general trend of increasing at first and then decreasing, but the peak time was slightly different. The peak concentration of the drug was positively correlated with the dose level. The peak concentrations of MB in MB (20 mg L-1) group, MB, azure A and azure B in the tissues of Japanese eel were significantly higher than those in MB (10 mg L-1) group. Moreover, MB, azure A and azure B remained for a long time and could still be detected at 64 days, and azure C was not detected in tissues.
